I named myself The Crafting Professor, since I'm a crafter, and I'm a college professor. I went through many, many years of graduate school, and the best source of relaxation and stress relief was being in my craft room or going to a local crop. Back then, I never told anyone that I was a full-time graduate student. I was waiting for the day I would scrapbook my graduation page. Now, I run the ScrapbookerPhD challenge blog (http://scrapbookerphd.blogspot.com), and am bringing my passion for crafting and teaching together. But here, at The Crafting Professor, I'm just sharing my work with like-minded crafters from all over the world.

The Sound of Summer (SPLASH)

It's August now, and so many of us are trying to cling to the beautiful summer with our crafting projects. But I can see August moving too quickly into September and fall colors creeping into my canvas. So I wanted to capture all of the feelings of summer on this card. I used three patterned papers layered on cardstock - the yellow pattern feels like sunshine, and the blue is perfect for water (and came from a pirate themed stash), and then the side bar screams rainbow to me.  Then, I cut this great angler fish from Pretty Papers Pretty Ribbon. He is splashing into the water (sounds of summer). I smeared glitter all over his fins and along is mouth and popped him up on an angle facing the water. I used denim blue Doubleclick Skittles for the splashes of cold droplets. Finally, I added this sentiment from Docerela Stamps. The sentiment is exactly what I was going for in the scene.
