I named myself The Crafting Professor, since I'm a crafter, and I'm a college professor. I went through many, many years of graduate school, and the best source of relaxation and stress relief was being in my craft room or going to a local crop. Back then, I never told anyone that I was a full-time graduate student. I was waiting for the day I would scrapbook my graduation page. Now, I run the ScrapbookerPhD challenge blog (http://scrapbookerphd.blogspot.com), and am bringing my passion for crafting and teaching together. But here, at The Crafting Professor, I'm just sharing my work with like-minded crafters from all over the world.

~This Weeks Challenge~
Wet and Wild
Create a project related to water

To qualify for the prize, be sure to use at least 1 Cricut cut on your project and if it's not obvious, let us know what cartridge you used.

For my project, I decided to recap one of my favorite vacations. My husband and I were in the Caribbean under the warm sun. We took a short boat ride to a private island for sun and sand and surf. Then it was off to scuba dive through coral and then off to swim with dolphins. I captured each of these elements with this box card.

The clouds and the sun are from PPnB Designs (this is a free cut file). The boat was cut from the cartridge, Just Because Cards. I used the patterned paper from the Celebration Stack by DCWV for the sails. The island was cut from the cartridge Pack Your Bags. I used a subtle patterned paper on the tree. It is by Crate Paper and has leaves on it. Finally, the dolphin is from the Cricut set Whales and Dolphins.

Springtime Cocktail

It's time for a challenge at Exploring Cricut. This week's challenge is to be inspired by spring and use at least one flower.
For my project this week, I thought about my best friend coming over for dinner after our agility competitions and relaxing with a cocktail on the deck. When the weather is nice, we catch the afternoon sun, and the dogs chase each other around the pool.

I wanted every part of this project to sparkle, shine, and shimmer.

The DP is Paper Studio, Uptown Flair. The piece is both embossed and glittered, and it really sparkles and shimmers. I added scalloped border using the Cricut cartridge, Ribbons & Rosettes. And kept to the black and white with the border, box, and circle since there is so much color coming from the card. The white mat in the square is embossed with a dot folder. The cocktail is cut from the Cricut cartridge Pack Your Bags. I used Martha Stewart's tourmaline glitter on the drink and straw, and added the Sentiment, Smile (embossed) by Hampton Art. Finally, I added green gems all around the elements.
