I named myself The Crafting Professor, since I'm a crafter, and I'm a college professor. I went through many, many years of graduate school, and the best source of relaxation and stress relief was being in my craft room or going to a local crop. Back then, I never told anyone that I was a full-time graduate student. I was waiting for the day I would scrapbook my graduation page. Now, I run the ScrapbookerPhD challenge blog (http://scrapbookerphd.blogspot.com), and am bringing my passion for crafting and teaching together. But here, at The Crafting Professor, I'm just sharing my work with like-minded crafters from all over the world.

Over the River and Through the Woods

This wonderful trifold card (SVGcuts.com) reminded me so much of Red Riding Hood... or the song title, Over the river and through the woods... With that in mind, I set upon creating this card as a table decoration for Thanksgiving this year. On this first layer, I did a lot of embellishing, I chalked all of the leaves, the bark, and the trees. I also embossed one of the tree layers, and I flocked the center of the squirrel. This is the main layer, so I wanted a lot of dimension and texture.

Flip open the squirrel and logs, and you find the first inside layer that I have chalked.

Flip the layer again, and you will find the landscape that I created using patterns and embossing files, plus chalk on the trees and leaves.

Finally, on the inside, I used a sentiment from CardzTV.

Happy Thanksgiving to all that celebrate. And a very big thank you to all.
