I named myself The Crafting Professor, since I'm a crafter, and I'm a college professor. I went through many, many years of graduate school, and the best source of relaxation and stress relief was being in my craft room or going to a local crop. Back then, I never told anyone that I was a full-time graduate student. I was waiting for the day I would scrapbook my graduation page. Now, I run the ScrapbookerPhD challenge blog (http://scrapbookerphd.blogspot.com), and am bringing my passion for crafting and teaching together. But here, at The Crafting Professor, I'm just sharing my work with like-minded crafters from all over the world.

Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Birthday's too

The winter holiday season is extra crazy in my family because not only do we have all of the traditional holidays, we also celebrate Hanukkah, and have three December birthdays (and a January birthday). You might think that is funny, but wait, the December birthday are - me, on the 11th, my brother on the 12th, and my husband also on the 12th. How is that for crazy! Now that my Halloween cards are complete and plenty of Thanksgiving cards have been made, it's time to shift my attention to those birthdays.

I really wanted to do something special for my husband for her birthday instead of a generic birthday card. I confess, I'm not very creative when it comes to birthday cards, but with the help of cut files from SVGcut.com and some challenges like the Alphabet Challenge with R is for Rounded (I thought of rounding the bases), I attempted this baseball birthday card.

The card is pretty straight forward. The rounded corner square with the baseball diamond in the center is the perfect backdrop. I inked everything since the field and bases do get dirty. I cut the bats that are underneath the jersey and I used a brown glitter pen to draw short lines on the bat, hoping that would mimic what a natural bat would look like. The last pieces were the baseball, the birthday sentiment, and the jersey numbers 33. My husband always plays with the number 33.

Finally, I found the most perfect stamp from Docerela Stamps on the Mix & Match III set, "For my Husband."

I love the way it came out, and I know he is going to feel special with this card.
