I named myself The Crafting Professor, since I'm a crafter, and I'm a college professor. I went through many, many years of graduate school, and the best source of relaxation and stress relief was being in my craft room or going to a local crop. Back then, I never told anyone that I was a full-time graduate student. I was waiting for the day I would scrapbook my graduation page. Now, I run the ScrapbookerPhD challenge blog (http://scrapbookerphd.blogspot.com), and am bringing my passion for crafting and teaching together. But here, at The Crafting Professor, I'm just sharing my work with like-minded crafters from all over the world.

Player 33

If you follow my blog, you know that I love to make cards for my husband. Sometimes, I make "love you" notes to put in his briefcase. Other times, I make "hello" cards just to brighten his day. But, there are also holidays and birthdays and special occasions.

This card is all about my husband, Ken, who loves baseball, and when he plays, he always chooses to be player #33. It's his lucky charm. Ken is a die-hard Mets fan, and even got to play on CitiField in his #33 uniform. So when I chose my colors, I knew I needed blue and orange. Not my favorite combination, but Ken's favorite combination.

I loved layering the different colors, and the orange mat was really interesting and reminded me of bases (even though it wasn't in a diamond shape). The fantastic baseball die cut is from the Cricut cartridge All Sports. Instead of just a Happy Birthday stamp, I used, You're the Best. Finally, I added my favorite embellishment - my Skittles!!! I used the Terra Glitter skittles and lined them up at the bottom - almost like 3 strikes...

I know he is going to love this!

Just a tip about my Cricut mats. I have an everyday use mat, but I have a crisp mat for intricate cutting. I used that crisp mat for cutting the lettering on this die cut, and it cut beautifully.

Do you use Cricut Explore? Want the cutting file. Follow my blog and leave me a note in the comments.
