I named myself The Crafting Professor, since I'm a crafter, and I'm a college professor. I went through many, many years of graduate school, and the best source of relaxation and stress relief was being in my craft room or going to a local crop. Back then, I never told anyone that I was a full-time graduate student. I was waiting for the day I would scrapbook my graduation page. Now, I run the ScrapbookerPhD challenge blog (http://scrapbookerphd.blogspot.com), and am bringing my passion for crafting and teaching together. But here, at The Crafting Professor, I'm just sharing my work with like-minded crafters from all over the world.

Color Challenge
Create a project that uses the colors purple, yellow and gray

To qualify for the prize, be sure to use at least 1 Cricut cut on your project and if it's not obvious, let us know what cartridge you used.

For my project, I knew I was planning to make a sympathy card. A long-time friend's mother died recently, and I wanted to send something special to her.  So I started with the pattered paper which is more like a lattice with shades of purple, gray, and yellow. It is from the Wisteria pad by Basic Grey. I built up three mats underneath with one in dark gray, one in light gray, and one in dark purple. Then layered the purple frame on top of the patterned paper.

I added these two gorgeous butterflies to the center purple frame and popped them up for even more dimension. My favorite embellishment is a butterfly. They are so versatile in theme, and they are can be both the focal point or a secondary embellishment. These particular butterflies have metal wires curling throughout their bodies, and the look is just beautiful. They are from Recollections. Once the butterflies were in place, I used flourishes from my Cindy Loo Cricut Cartridge to add a bit more light purple. Lastly, I added a few of Carri~abusybee's Skittles
