I named myself The Crafting Professor, since I'm a crafter, and I'm a college professor. I went through many, many years of graduate school, and the best source of relaxation and stress relief was being in my craft room or going to a local crop. Back then, I never told anyone that I was a full-time graduate student. I was waiting for the day I would scrapbook my graduation page. Now, I run the ScrapbookerPhD challenge blog (http://scrapbookerphd.blogspot.com), and am bringing my passion for crafting and teaching together. But here, at The Crafting Professor, I'm just sharing my work with like-minded crafters from all over the world.

For Mom

It's time for another challenge this week at Through the Purple Haze. You don't want to miss out on our sponsor: Sweet Pea Stamps.

The theme for this week is a project for Mother's Day. For my project, I am using Lisa Victoria's Butterly Dragon. My main goal was to color the dragon using a stippling effect. To do this, I sat in front of my Copics and randomly chose blues and greens for the stippling and then blended green throughout the rest of the body. To contrast the dark colors on the body of the dragon, I made the wings light and the flowers in shades of pink. The embellishments are all die cuts in shades of pink. I added a gem to the sentiment circle. This was such a fun project. Definitely check out all the dragon images at Sweet Pea Stamps.

  1. That's adorable, Faith, and possibly something even I could do! I really don't color all that well, but I would probably be able to put dots within an image! I may give it a try!

Who knew that dragon wings were so delicate? This is a beautiful card, and you chose the perfect background paper to go with your stippling.
