I named myself The Crafting Professor, since I'm a crafter, and I'm a college professor. I went through many, many years of graduate school, and the best source of relaxation and stress relief was being in my craft room or going to a local crop. Back then, I never told anyone that I was a full-time graduate student. I was waiting for the day I would scrapbook my graduation page. Now, I run the ScrapbookerPhD challenge blog (http://scrapbookerphd.blogspot.com), and am bringing my passion for crafting and teaching together. But here, at The Crafting Professor, I'm just sharing my work with like-minded crafters from all over the world.

Robotastic

It's all about robots, dinosaurs, and superheroes with my nephews. Since they love to get mail, I often send them cards that speak to their interests. This time, I am going with Robots using The Alley Way Stamp set Bot Time. I wanted to create something that looked mechanical. My color scheme came from The Alley Way Stamps challenge blog. I was inspired by the black, white, and orange colors in one photo. At first, I stamped everything in black. Then in the border, I added blocks of orange. I then added different elements from the stamp set, and kept with the orange.

The pop of blue is a nod to another of The Alley Way Stamps photos for inspiration. Finally, I inked the edges in an orange shade to give the card some depth - I almost felt like a it was a workshop with dust and dirt and grease.

The Alley Way, Be Inspired Challenge: Photo inspiration
Simply Create Too: New (all items makers, ink and stamps are from my stash)
