I named myself The Crafting Professor, since I'm a crafter, and I'm a college professor. I went through many, many years of graduate school, and the best source of relaxation and stress relief was being in my craft room or going to a local crop. Back then, I never told anyone that I was a full-time graduate student. I was waiting for the day I would scrapbook my graduation page. Now, I run the ScrapbookerPhD challenge blog (http://scrapbookerphd.blogspot.com), and am bringing my passion for crafting and teaching together. But here, at The Crafting Professor, I'm just sharing my work with like-minded crafters from all over the world.

You Take the Cake

It's time to let you in on a secret, my husband and I are addicted to cupcakes. We found this amazing place that makes mini-cupcakes in fantabulous flavors, but they have to be ordered and delivered (no store). Guess how many times we have done that!

I won't give that number away.

Every trip to the supermarket we check the bakery for some speciality cupcakes. Right now there is a scrumptious strawberry lemonade cupcake in the refrigerator for me thanks to the thoughtfulness of my husband.

And that was the inspiration for this card.

I would normally never use such bold paper, but I thought if the theme was cupcakes - go all out. You can't see the cherry on the top too well because of the red mat, but it is covered in glitter. The white icing is covered with liquid appliqué to give it dimension. The stem of the cherry has a Skittle in the color bottle glitter. The stamp is from Docerela Stamps, Ready to Pop.
