I named myself The Crafting Professor, since I'm a crafter, and I'm a college professor. I went through many, many years of graduate school, and the best source of relaxation and stress relief was being in my craft room or going to a local crop. Back then, I never told anyone that I was a full-time graduate student. I was waiting for the day I would scrapbook my graduation page. Now, I run the ScrapbookerPhD challenge blog (http://scrapbookerphd.blogspot.com), and am bringing my passion for crafting and teaching together. But here, at The Crafting Professor, I'm just sharing my work with like-minded crafters from all over the world.

For my project this week, I wanted to make a card for my mom, and I knew I wanted to use a flower image. Since I was going to be adding lots of shimmer and shine to this card, I wanted to keep the bulk of the card clean and simple with lots of white space. I started with this wonderful flower stamp from the Flower Block Set 1 from Sweet n' Sassy Stamps. I used a glossy merlot embossing powder for the stamp, and then I used my Spectrum Noir markers to color the flower alternating between GR5, PB4 and 5. I used a little yellow to shade the background.

I went over the lines inside of the flower and stems with the Cinnabar glitter pen by Martha Stewart, and then I added yellow glitter to the center of the flower.

The green mat is actually embossed with a dot folder from Cuttlebug, and the flourishes are cut from the Cricut cartridge Wall Decor and More. I used two shades of pearlescent green card stock for the flourishes to add to the shimmer and shine. Finally, I added three clear gems at the bottom of the card.
