I named myself The Crafting Professor, since I'm a crafter, and I'm a college professor. I went through many, many years of graduate school, and the best source of relaxation and stress relief was being in my craft room or going to a local crop. Back then, I never told anyone that I was a full-time graduate student. I was waiting for the day I would scrapbook my graduation page. Now, I run the ScrapbookerPhD challenge blog (http://scrapbookerphd.blogspot.com), and am bringing my passion for crafting and teaching together. But here, at The Crafting Professor, I'm just sharing my work with like-minded crafters from all over the world.

Steampunk Fabulous

Project 18 of my Simply Betty Stamps Challenge: Color every image in the Simply Betty Collection. That's over 500 images not including the new releases this year. I'm proud of how far I have come, but I have a long way to go. Come join my blog and cheer me on while I work my way through the Simply Betty Catalog. 

For this project, I used a retired* image in the steampunk category. I started coloring her by choosing her clothing. I wanted bright colors (yellow and turquoise) to stand out against her red hair and brown accessories. If you can't see the sentiment, it is #Fabulous. The sentiment came from a set called Teen Scene by C.C. Designs. My mom is going to love this card because of its vintage (but steampunk) look. I have been making Mother's Day cards to send her for the entire month, not just on the day of Mother's Day. 

*This image has been taken out of retirement for a limited time. 



To finish the card, I inked the image with distress ink and layered her on a turquoise Spellbinders die cut. I added a few butterflies, flowers, and a wooden leaf.
